Notes: When Ohio voters approved casino operation in Ohio, we were told that new revenues would be used to meet unmet needs in schools and communities and not replace existing appropriations. However, HB 59 (The 2014-15 budget) cut the local government fund by another $95 million. School funding is still $607 million below 2010-11 budget levels. To top it off, revenue from the casino’s falls far short of filling these gaps. If you bet on casino’s fixing government funding, your chips are coming up short.

Notes: 61% of local school levies passed in Ohio. This demonstrates continuing support among the voting public for Ohio’s public schools. School districts continue to suffer from state budget cuts in the 2012-13 budget that have yet to be restored. Great public schools are often the cornerstones of great communities and we need to build them up!

Notes: Absolutely! Property, sales, and income taxes are all of chipping in our fair share for the common good. We all believe that parks, public safety and a social safety net should be well managed and operated. Local government officials elected on Tuesday have a responsibility to serve their communities and manage our common resources to best serve the community.
